Dualling the A66

A66 dualling

Making the A66 Trans-Pennine route a dual carriageway along its entire length has been a long-term objective.

It's the only way to deal with issues like the notorious Ravensworth junction.

Detailed design work on dualling the remaining single-carriageway sections like this has been completed and development approval granted in 2024. Work on the £1.4bn project should start in 2025.

Highways chiefs have agreed to make safety improvements to a dangerous junction on the A66 in North Yorkshire.  Highways England will make the changes to the New Lane junction at Ravensworth after the intervention of MP Rishi Sunak.  Ravensworth Parish Council had written to th
