A village turned out in force to help celebrate a special anniversary for its most famous son.
Great Ayton Village Fête took as its theme the 250 years since Captain James Cook ventured on his first Pacific voyage.
Hundreds of villagers gathered on the High and Low Greens and the High Street to watch the parade of floats and to see the local MP Rishi Sunak open the event.
He said: “It was a tremendous day for the village. The sense of community spirit was very strong with almost every organisation represented in some form.
“The floats were amazing and I’m very glad my duties in handing out prizes did not include having to judge them.”
The event was organised by Great Ayton Parish Council in partnership with Visit Great Ayton.
The first prize float was Roseberry Academy’s representation of HMS Resolution. Second place was Marwood School’s HMS Endeavour and in third was the Royal Oak and Hawaii.
The prize for the best decorated umbrella was won by Henry Plews.
