I spent a packed few days going door-to-door around villages in the Dales. I spoke with shopkeepers, residents and even enjoyed a packed village meeting in the church hall.
It was great to introduce myself to so many people and hear from them what issues were on their mind and what they felt my priorities should be.
We covered lots of topics. Even very elderly constituents wanted to speak to me about broadband – this is not just an issue that affects young people. Immigration was the most raised national issue with everyone concerned about the pace and magnitude of immigration we have experienced as a nation over the past several years. Healthcare came up a good deal as well and people were reassured by what I heard and recounted from my early meetings with Friarage leadership.
