A dales brass band spent 24 hours performing a marathon sponsored carol concert.
Avoiding the worst of the weekend’s appalling weather, Leyburn Brass Band kept warm and dry ploughing their way through 368 pieces of music for Children in Need.
An enthusiastic fan of Christmas music and band member Richard Horsley dreamed up the idea of an extended carol concert.
He said: “ We thought it would be good for Children in Need but carols aren’t right in November; so we agreed to do it in December.”
At the start they were joined by Rishi Sunak MP along with other well-wishers.
The first carol was Jingle Bells and the concert finished with a rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Twenty-three players from Leyburn Band took part with one guest player Marion Potter doing a stint at 1.30am. On Sunday morning the musicians took part in the Sunday Service at the Methodist Church.
Their marathon has so far raised £210, which included a donation from the Methodist Church. Contributions can be still made until January 6, 2016 at mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/leyburnband1.
