A FAMILY fun open day at a sports centre in the Yorkshire Dales was attended by Rishi.
He visited Yorebridge Sports and Leisure Centre in Askrigg, near Leyburn, with his wife and two daughters.
The centre, which includes a gym suite, fitness studio and a floodlit multi-use games area, was created by the community group, the Yorebridge Sports Development Association.
The day was held to show local people the sporting facilities on their doorstep and to attract new users.
Rishi said: “The centre is a tremendous example of the local community coming together to create an asset for all. My family had a great time there and I’m sure lots of Dalesfolk will enjoy these super facilities.”
Cllr Yvonne Peacock, chair of the development association, said: “We were delighted Rishi could attend with his family. It means a lot to have our MP’s support.”
The event was also attended by Cllr Caroline Thornton-Berry, vice chair of Richmondshire District Council to accept the centre’s thanks for a £5,000 grant from the council’s Communities Opportunity Fund. Anne Middleton of the Yorebridge Education Foundation, which provided funds for central heating and refurbishment of toilets and shower, was also present.
