A woodland oasis funded by shoppers and business is helping young children learn about the natural world.
Busy Bees Pre-School at Brompton on Swale now has a woodland garden thanks to funding from Tesco and a local garage business.
The garden, which was formally opened by Richmond MP Rishi Sunak, has been formed on a small parcel of land at Brompton on Swale CE Primary School.
The cost of creating the garden has been met by Tesco's Bags of Help community funding scheme which distributes cash to local projects raised from the sale of plastic bags and a donation from Off Rhodes garage business which is based in the village.
Busy Bees deputy manager Emma Simpson said the garden would help their children explore nature safely and with fun.
She said: "The children are very excited about the new garden and are already enjoying exploring it.
"We are very grateful for all the shoppers who voted for our project with their tokens at the local store, to Louise and Tim Rhodes of Off Rhodes and Mike White, headteacher of the primary school, for lending us the land."
Mr Sunak said: "This is a super place for young children to learn about the natural world and it is great to see how much support there has been shown for it by the local community."
Busy Bees was founded 25 years ago. It currently looks after 19 children between 9-3pm in premises on the primary school site.
