SANTA Claus brought some Christmas cheer to a local hospice charity with a present of almost £500.
Well, actually there was more than one Santa Claus who gifted the money to Herriot Hospice Homecare, in fact there were 35 including Richmond MP Rishi Sunak and his family!
The charity recently staged its 4th annual Santa Fun in Northallerton.
Thirty-five people, including Rishi's daughters Krishna and Anoushka and his mum Usha, braved the cold weather to run five kilometres around the Park Run course in Northallerton.
Those who took part received a Santa suit to wear, and keep, and at the end they received a medal.
Rishi said: “The Santa Run is always great fun, whatever the weather.
"Herriot Hospice Homecare is a wonderful local charity delivering a service that many of us, our families and friends, will need."
Paula Moore, Assistant Fundraiser at Herriot Hospice Homecare, said: “The Santa Run was lots of fun and we would like to thank everyone who took part and helped us raise almost £500.
“We would also like to thank the Park Run volunteers for manning the course and ensuring no Santa’s went astray!”
The money raised will go towards the near £1 million that Herriot Hospice Homecare needs each year to provide vital services to people living with terminal illness and bereavement across the district.
Herriot’s range of services, which support families across 1,000 square miles of Hambleton and Richmondshire, include end of life care, bereavement support, respite support and driving services.
