NORTH Yorkshire businessmen talked to the Prime Minister at a meeting organised by Rishi Sunak.
David Hartley, managing director of Wensleydale Dairy Products at Hawes, and Simon Bailes, managing director of Simon Bailes Peugeot, of Northallerton, Stockton and Guisborough, had the opportunity to speak to David Cameron after his keynote speech to Yorkshire business leaders in Leeds on Friday (September 11). John Gibson, former chairman of Wensleydale Dairy Products, also attended the meeting.
At the event, Mr Cameron outlined the Conservative Government’s commitment to continue dealing with the deficit while improving public services by making the state smarter. He said the Coalition Government’s record proved that the public services could be maintained by making government more efficient.
Mr Bailes said he was delighted to meet the Prime Minister.
“Mr Cameron made a lot of sense,” said Mr Bailes. “I thought his remarks were well thought through. He seemed to have a good knowledge of what the region needs.”
At the meeting Mr Sunak discussed a number of local issues with the Prime Minister, including Yorkshire devolution.
