A Great Ayton businesswoman received the backing of Rishi Sunak MP at the launch of new premises for her growing business.
The Richmond MP officially opened Amanda McGough and Associates’ new offices at the Terry Dicken Business Park in Stokesley as the health and wellbeing consultancy enters a period of growth, having taken on two members of staff.
Amanda McGough has more than 30 years’ experience working for the NHS in various roles both as a clinician and senior manager in NHS Trusts, Primary Care and Public Health.
Amanda set up her company in 2013 which provides specialist health and wellbeing training for individuals, private businesses and public sector organisations. Amanda focusses on areas such as wellbeing and performance at work and health issues relating to stress, anxiety and sleep problems.
Prior to launching her business, Amanda was the specialist nurse for chronic fatigue syndrome/ME at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and has trained extensively throughout her career with organisations such as St Bartholomew's Hospital in London, City University London and the University of York. Amanda holds membership of the Royal College of Nursing and is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Amanda is currently working with a range of clients around Hambleton, Teesside and Durham to help improve lifestyle, promote wellbeing at work, boost workplace productivity and prevent ill health.
Thanks to the growth of her business, Amanda has taken on Nicola Mellor and Alison Selby to provide marketing and administration support at her new offices at Stokesley Business Park.
Speaking at the launch of Amanda’s business premises, Rishi Sunak said: “I am pleased to support Amanda as she launches her exciting new business in a growing sector of the health economy. We are all more conscious of managing our health to cope with the demands of our busy lives so I am sure Amanda’s business has a great chance of success.”
Amanda said: “Leaving the NHS full time after 30 years was a huge step for me but I hope that the combination of my clinical and managerial experience will help me to make a real success of what I am doing. I am passionate about ensuring workplaces and individuals are happy, healthy and productive but very often in our hectic lives stress, anxiety and lack of sleep can lead to health problems.
“I focus on prevention of ill health by providing bespoke training and support for individuals and businesses and it is so rewarding to watch people flourish after following even a short programme. I am really pleased to take on new staff from the local area and move into dedicated premises to allow my company to grow. To have the support of Rishi Sunak has been a huge boost at the start of a busy period for us.”
